Open-Plan Family Kitchen Transformation in Hythe

Our clients wanted to replace their dated oak kitchen with a fresh, contemporary design that would make better use of the available space while creating a brighter, more welcoming environment for everyday family life.

Although the existing kitchen offered plenty of storage, the layout no longer suited the way the family lived. An unnecessary doorway restricted the design possibilities, while the wall separating the kitchen from the adjoining space prevented the room from feeling as open and connected as they had envisioned.

Their goal was to create a practical, modern kitchen with clean lines, improved storage and high-quality finishes, while introducing a warmer, lighter colour palette that would stand the test of time.

 To achieve this, we completely reimagined the layout. The original doorway was blocked up, allowing us to maximise storage with additional cabinetry, while the separating wall was removed to create a new, open access into the kitchen. This transformed the flow of the space and provided the perfect opportunity to create a much more functional layout.

This project demonstrates how a thoughtful design can completely transform the way a kitchen functions without extending the property.

By blocking up the original doorway, we gained valuable wall space for additional cabinetry and storage, allowing the kitchen to work much harder for the family. Removing the separating wall then created a new entrance into the kitchen, opening the room to the adjoining living space and dramatically improving the flow throughout the home.

The new layout feels brighter, more spacious and far better connected, making the kitchen a natural hub for everyday family life.

Soft Highland Stone cabinetry creates a calm, contemporary feel, while the Portland Oak-effect cabinet interiors and Worcester Oak laminate worktops introduce warmth and texture. A generous corner pantry provides exceptional storage, keeping everyday essentials organised and easily accessible, while new built-in appliances integrate seamlessly into the design.

Finished with stylish LVT flooring throughout, the completed kitchen is practical, inviting and designed to make the most of every inch of available space.
